The Simpler LawnPro Alternative for Solo Lawn Care Pros

LawnPro's free plan stops at 25 customers, and the next tier is $39 a month. Here is an honest comparison for a one-person lawn business: what LawnPro does better, what Mowbius does better, and who should switch.

Prices and platform facts verified August 2026. Software pricing changes often — check LawnPro's own pricing page before you decide.

Stay on LawnPro if you want real invoicing, estimates, online payments, and a client portal at $0, and your customer list fits inside LawnPro's 25-customer free cap.

Switch to Mowbius if your route has outgrown 25 customers, you don't bill through software, and you want a native phone app that keeps working with no signal for one flat price.

What LawnPro Is, and Who It’s Really For

LawnPro is one of the longest-running pieces of lawn care software in the United States. The company dates the product to 2003 and cites more than 40,000 users, and the feature set reflects that history: scheduling and routing, estimates, invoicing, online payments, a client portal, chemical and equipment tracking, QuickBooks sync, and Zapier.

It is built as a web application with companion iOS and Android apps, and its plans are sized by employee count, from one user up to fifteen. That shape tells you who the product is really designed around: an owner at a desk on a laptop, with people in the field. The mobile apps serve the crew; the browser is where the business is run.

The free Solo plan is the reason so many one-person operations start here, and it is genuinely a working product rather than a demo. It just has a ceiling, and for a solo mower the ceiling arrives sooner than the feature list suggests.

LawnPro’s Pricing, Fully Broken Down

Prices verified in August 2026 on LawnPro’s own pricing page.

  • Solo, $0/month. One user, up to 25 customers. Includes CRM, job scheduling, estimates, invoicing, online payments, a client portal, time tracking, reporting, and mobile app access.
  • Startup, $39/month, or $29/month billed annually. Three employees, unlimited customers. Adds automated invoicing, work requests, quote deposits, tip collection, a client login widget, and bulk price updates.
  • Grow, $129/month, or $99/month billed annually. Seven employees. Adds route optimization, bulk and waitlist scheduling, job forms, advanced time tracking, ACH payments, and multi-step chemical programs.
  • Plus, $249/month, or $199/month billed annually. Fifteen employees. Adds two-way text messaging, auto-charge cards, QuickBooks sync, and texted invoices and estimates.
  • Annual billing takes 20% off every paid plan. LawnPro publishes no sign-up fee.

One correction worth making, because it is everywhere: review directories and comparison posts still list LawnPro as free up to 50 customers with two employee logins, then $39, $97, and $179 per month. That structure is out of date. LawnPro’s own pricing page in August 2026 lists the four plans above, with the free tier at 25 customers. If a page quotes you $97 for LawnPro, it has not checked recently.

The number that matters for a solo operator is the second one. Twenty-five customers is under a full weekly route for a lot of one-person businesses, so the real question is not whether LawnPro is free, but how long it stays free. Past the cap, the cheapest LawnPro is $348 a year prepaid or $468 a year monthly, on a plan sized for three employees. The same arithmetic applies to Yardbook’s free tier, for different reasons.

Where LawnPro Frustrates Solo Operators

These are the recurring themes in public reviews, not our findings:

  • The learning curve. Reviewers on Capterra and GetApp describe a moderate learning curve on the way to the advanced features. One Capterra reviewer wrote simply that “it isn’t self explanatory.”
  • Occasional bugs. Capterra reviewers report glitches, with invoicing and billing errors coming up most often: duplicate invoices, incorrect charges, and inconsistent tax handling.
  • A payment processor change. Reviewers have cited LawnPro’s switch of payment processor as a disruption, and some operators name it as the reason they left.
  • Support channels. Reviewers describe support as chat-first, with response times measured in hours rather than minutes and no phone line, and some report having to follow up more than once.

None of this is disqualifying, and plenty of reviewers are happy. These are the specific frictions that show up when one person is running the whole business without an office to sort it out from.

What LawnPro Does Better Than Mowbius

Being straight about this is the point of the page. Stay on LawnPro if you need any of the following, because Mowbius has none of it:

  • Invoicing, including automated and recurring invoicing
  • Estimates and quotes, with deposits
  • Online card payments, plus ACH on the Grow plan
  • A client portal customers log into, and a client login widget for your site
  • Two-way text messaging with customers, on the Plus plan
  • QuickBooks sync, on the Plus plan
  • Route optimization and bulk scheduling
  • Chemical application and equipment tracking
  • Employee logins and time tracking
  • A full web app for desktop work
  • A $0 entry price

If you invoice through software or your customers expect a portal, that settles it. LawnPro, or another full platform, is the right category for you.

Where Mowbius Wins

Mowbius is built for the operator LawnPro’s ceiling hits first: one person, one phone, no office and no crew.

  • No customer cap, and one price. $12.99 a month or $59.99 a year, with unlimited contacts and unlimited jobs. The paywall’s own promise is “Manage Unlimited Customers” and “Schedule Unlimited Jobs.” A solo who has passed 25 customers pays $348 to $468 a year for LawnPro’s cheapest paid plan, against $59.99 a year for Mowbius.
  • Fully offline. Your customers, properties, jobs, and schedule live on the phone. Rural routes, dead zones, and a bad afternoon of signal don’t stop you, and your changes sync the next time the app connects.
  • A real native app. Mowbius is a native iOS and Android app built for the phone first, not a browser tool with a field companion attached.
  • No ads, no seats, no add-ons. One subscription, no per-employee pricing on a plan you’d only half use, and no sign-up fee.
  • Less to learn. Four tabs: Schedule, Contacts, Revenue, Settings. Jobs are built from a reusable catalog under Manage Tasks & Prices, contacts carry color labels and an Automatically Reschedule Jobs switch for recurring visits, and the schedule has a calendar plus Daily View and Weekly View. The Revenue tab shows Today’s Revenue, Unpaid Payments, and a Forecast report.
  • No money moves through the app. Payment tracking is manual: you use Mark Paid on a closed job. Nothing to reconcile when a processor changes hands, and no percentage of your revenue going to software.

How to Switch

There is nothing to cancel on LawnPro’s free Solo plan, so leaving is a decision rather than a process. If you are on a paid plan, annual billing is prepaid, so the end of a term is the cheap moment to move. Either way, get a copy of your customer list out of LawnPro before you close the account: start with its reports, and ask its support chat what export it offers on your plan.

Setting up Mowbius means entering your customers and their properties again. Mowbius has no import of any kind, so that part is manual: for a typical solo route it is an afternoon, not a weekend. Add each contact, add the property, set the recurring schedule once, and Automatically Reschedule Jobs keeps future visits coming. The 14-day free trial includes every feature, and the subscription is billed by the App Store or Google Play and cancelable anytime in your store settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LawnPro free?

Yes. LawnPro's Solo plan costs $0 with no credit card, and it includes job scheduling, estimates, invoicing, online payments, a client portal, time tracking, and mobile app access. The limits are the catch: one user and up to 25 customers. Paid plans start at $39 per month for three employees and unlimited customers. Prices verified in August 2026 on LawnPro's own pricing page.

What happens when a solo route outgrows LawnPro's free plan?

LawnPro's Solo plan caps at 25 customers, which is below a full weekly route for many one-person lawn businesses. Passing that cap means moving to the Startup plan at $39 per month, or $29 per month billed annually, which is priced for three employees whether or not you have any. Mowbius has no customer cap at any price: contacts and jobs are unlimited on the single $12.99 per month subscription.

Does LawnPro work offline?

No. LawnPro is cloud software with a web app and companion mobile apps, and it needs a connection to work. Mowbius keeps your customers, properties, jobs, and schedule on the phone, works fully offline, and syncs your changes the next time it connects.

Does Mowbius do invoicing like LawnPro?

No. Mowbius has no invoicing, no estimates, and no payment processing, and there is no client portal. You track jobs and revenue in the app and use Mark Paid on a closed job to record what came in. If you bill customers through software, LawnPro is the better fit; if you collect on site or invoice outside an app, Mowbius covers the scheduling and revenue side for one flat price.

How does LawnPro's free plan compare with Mowbius's trial?

They are different offers. LawnPro's Solo plan is free indefinitely but limited to one user and 25 customers. Mowbius has no free tier: it gives you a 14-day free trial with every feature unlocked, then $12.99 per month or $59.99 per year, billed by the App Store or Google Play and cancelable anytime in your store settings.
