How to Cancel Housecall Pro
Canceling Housecall Pro takes longer than clicking a button, because there is no button. Here is the path per Housecall Pro's own help center as of August 2026, plus the one thing to do before you start: export your customers.
Step 1: Export Your Customers and Jobs First
Do this before you contact anyone. Housecall Pro’s help center documents a CSV export for both lists, available to employees listed as Admins:
- Open Customers in the left navigation bar of the web app.
- Click Actions on the right side of the screen.
- Choose Export from the drop-down.
- Confirm your email address, then click Send file.
The file arrives by email from notifications@housecallpro.com. Housecall Pro advises checking your spam folder if it hasn’t landed within an hour. Repeat the same steps from the Jobs screen for your job history, and from the price book screen if you want your services and materials list too.
Whatever you switch to, that CSV is the only clean copy of your customer list you will get. Pull it while the account is still fully active.
Step 2: Contact Support, Because There Is No Cancel Button
Cancellation is not something you complete inside the app. Per Housecall Pro’s help center as of August 2026, you start it one of three ways:
- Click the blue chat bubble in the bottom right of your account, select Support, then Send us a message
- Email cancellations@housecallpro.com
- Call (858) 842-5746
The billing team then responds within one to three business days, and Housecall Pro warns you to watch for calls from an 858 area code. The step that surprises people is the last one. In Housecall Pro’s own words: “We cannot fully process your cancellation or pause billing until a team member has spoken with the account owner over the phone.”
So plan for a phone call, and make sure the person on it is the account owner. A dispatcher or technician login will not be able to close the account.
Note one conflict worth knowing about: several third-party guides describe canceling from a “cancel subscription” control in account settings. Housecall Pro’s own help center describes the support-and-phone-call path above. Where the two disagree, follow the vendor and confirm with their billing team.
Step 3: Know What You Will and Will Not Get Back
Housecall Pro’s terms of service say that every subscription renews automatically for another period of the same length unless it is terminated first, and that subscription fees are not prorated or refunded except where the agreement itself says so.
Two practical consequences:
- Cancel before the renewal date, not after. The terms name no fixed notice period, but the renewal charge is automatic, and given that the process needs a phone call and a one-to-three-business-day response, starting a week or more ahead is the sensible margin. On an annual plan, that renewal is a full year’s fee.
- Mid-term is unlikely to be refunded. The published terms do not describe a prorated refund for canceling partway through a term, so assume you keep access until the term ends and pay nothing more after that. Ask the billing team to confirm your final billing date in writing.
There is one exception. Housecall Pro’s help center describes a 30-day money-back guarantee where it was offered at sign-up, covering the monthly subscription fee only. Setup fees, postcards, chargebacks, and anything outside the base subscription are listed as non-refundable. If you are inside that first month, ask for the refund explicitly.
If You’re Leaving Because It’s Too Much Platform for One Person
Plenty of people cancel Housecall Pro because they are moving to a different platform of the same size, and everything above applies either way.
But if you are leaving because $59 a month at the cheapest annual rate buys a dispatch board with nobody to dispatch, that is a different problem, and a smaller tool solves it. Mowbius is $12.99 a month or $59.99 a year: contacts, properties, jobs, a schedule, and revenue tracking, on the phone, fully offline. It has no invoicing, no estimates, no card payments, and no import, so you will re-enter your customers by hand and keep billing however you bill now. That is the trade. If it isn’t the right one, the comparison of every major lawn care app covers the tools that do invoice.
