Where Mowbius Backs Up Your Data
Mowbius does not back up to iCloud. Your data lives on your phone and in Mowbius's own cloud, and your account is the backup.
Your Mowbius data lives in exactly two places: a local copy on your phone, so the app works offline, and the master copy in Mowbius’s own cloud, where your phone syncs whenever it has a connection.
iCloud is not one of them. Mowbius doesn’t show up under iCloud storage, and restoring your phone from an iCloud backup is not how you recover Mowbius data. The same goes for Google’s device backups on Android. If you’ve been searching iCloud for your customer list, there is nothing to find there, and nothing is wrong.
Your Account Is the Backup
Moving to a new phone takes three steps:
- Install Mowbius from the App Store or Google Play
- Sign in with your email and password
- Open your Contacts list. Everything the cloud holds comes down to the new phone.
To check that the cloud is current before you switch, open Settings on the old phone: the Cloud Sync row shows “Updated on” with the date and time of the last sync.
If Something Looks Missing After Signing In
Tap Sync All Data under Cloud Sync first. The Restore Missing Data guide covers that fix and the two after it.
The Fine Print on Offline Work
Work you record without a connection sits on your phone until the next sync. If the phone is lost or breaks before that sync happens, those entries can’t be recovered; they never reached the cloud. Opening the app on a connection now and then keeps the backup current.
